Do you ever have one of those days or weeks where it feels like the world is against you? It seems like everything you do just isn't going the way you think it should and at every turn there is someone else telling you “No!”? Boy we sure have! On our most recent road trip we experienced this feeling many times. Everything from gigs canceling to meetings falling through to having gear stolen right out of our truck! It felt like everywhere we looked we were experiencing another “No!”

We were starting to feel very down and like we should just cut the trip short and head home, then Michelle had a wonderful revelation. She told us, “Instead of focusing on the negative, let's look for little blessings throughout the day.” That felt like a tall order because, remember, the WHOLE WORLD was against us?!?! So, we started looking back on the trip so far and discovered all the little blessings we had just passed over; one day we had free parking, a few times we got our hotel rate cheeper than anticipated, we realized that gas prices were continuing to go down and there were many others! When we stopped and realized all the little blessings God was sending our way our whole outlook changed. We began looking for the small blessings throughout the day and that made the whole trip more fun!

Ok, sometimes when I think about receiving blessings from God, I am expecting Him to drop a bucket of cash in my lap or show up with a new truck or guitar. I know that can happen because I have seen it happen, but I think that sometimes we miss the small blessings in our live because we are focusing on the wrong things. It is easy to get caught up in how “awful” things are and expect God to do something BIG, but when we stop and look around we can see that God is sending small, but powerful blessings to us all the time!

So this week I want to encourage you to take Michelle's advice and look for the “little blessings” that God is sending you. When we focus on the good and are thankful for the small things, life can feel a little brighter!

I want to hear how those small blessings have encouraged you! Leave a comment here or on our FB page
